RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4 Cast

On April 30th, 2012 in the Hell’s Kitchen section of Manhattan the cast members of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4 got together for a reunion party and crowing ceremony for America’s Next Drag Superstar at the fabulous jam packed XL Nightclub.

Late afternoon on a beautiful Spring day, members of the press gathered to have one on one face to face time with the contestants of season 4. Later that evening, XL Nightclub would be open to the public in the Absolut Vodka sponsored party for the viewing of the final episode, of Logo TV’s most popular show, RuPauls’ Drag Race where the winner would be announced. The crowd of fans were allowed to mingle with the fabulously styled finalists of the show and pose for photos.

Sharon Needles

Sharon Needles

Clearly the crowd favorite and front-runner Sharon Needles who discussed being married to his husband and loving how he can handle a drag queen. Needles was looking forward to taking a day off, as he has spent nearly a month away from home touring the country and expressed how much he missed his cat Jasper. Later that evening, Needles addressed the crowd and said “This is the year of the fucking freak, Thank You all for the support, Happy Halloween kids, Hail Satan” the audience of various backgrounds loved it and cheered at the top of their lungs. Unfortunately, a dark cloud hovered over Needles as a news story about alleged racist remarks broke earlier in the day. Sharon’s reply was “…I don’t like being called what I’m not, I like to shock and push buttons in my shows. I am not a racist.” Needles looks forward in touring and meeting her fans throughout the States.

Chad Michaels

Chad Michaels

Chad Michaels is a consonant professional and has conducted himself with class throughout the season. In any other year, Michaels would have been a lock for the win. Chad brought Cher realness to the latest installment of Drag Race and although he has not met Cher in person he did mention that he had once performed for her years ago. During that performance in the audience were icon Barbra Streisand and producer David Foster. During our interview he said “I would love to hear from Cher, to hear what she thought, I tried my best not to offend her. Hopefully she will email me or tweet….I also want to spread the love around, meet everyone around the country and hopefully the world. My heart lies on stage, I love to perform live.” You can catch Chad Michaels on Logo’s Drage Race tour this year.

Phi Phi O'Hara

Phi Phi O’Hara

It was lovely to speak to Phi Phi O’Hara, the “Bitch” of season four. While talking to him it became apparent to me that he is an intelligent person who knows what he wants and will do what it takes to get it. He quickly debunked his infamous persona. We spoke briefly about hisportrayal on screen, “…Hey, it’s a character I played, it very competitive among us on the show. We filmed many hours at a time for days, per episode. You only see a little of what happened” and continued to say ,”People don’t know the real Phi Phi, come to one of my shows and see for yourself the real Phil Phi, they would be surprised.” By now, we know Phi Phi O’Hara didn’t win Drag Race and came in third place, he looked flawless that evening and wins my “Best Dressed,” wearing a cream colored dress with what appeared to be menacing gold spike studs throughout the dress but as he pointed out were actually harmless as I had expressed fear as he came forward to hug me.

Latrice Royal

Latrice Royal

Latrice Royal, or commonly known as Latrice *MFCKG* Royale was in high spirits and looking forward to future prospects. Not since the early elimination of Pandora Boxx in season two where viewers were shocked by the early exit of the fan favorite was so much outrage openly expressed. He said ” I would’ve loved to been in the final 3, but it didn’t work out that way”. The South Florida native also said, ” I look forward to being part of Logo’s Drag Race tour and meeting fans of the show.” It was revealed later that evening that Latrice had been crowned “Miss Congeniality” during the reunion show much to the cheers of the audience in attendance.

Jiggly Caliente

Willam Belli

Willam Belli

Another shocking moment in season four was the disqualification of Willam Belli in episode eight. Viewers would have to wait 6 weeks to find out the reason. My first question naturally to Willam was, Why were you DG from the show? his reply ” Oh Honey I had an abortion” which had us in stitches. Later that evening it was revealed that Belli had violated the rules and breached the contract by having conjugal visits with his husband. There is a clause barring contestants engaging in unauthorized outside contact.

Jiggly Caliente the sickening diva was at the center of a lot of commotion this season. The candid star and native New Yorker said “..I should have been in the Top 3, that shady Phi Phi tricked me and gave me bad advice on purpose” and then went on to add “…I can’t think of anyone in the Top 3 that shouldn’t be there, they deserved it. I’m shocked Latrice is not in it” and ended with “..what Phi Phi did to me, I’ve moved on, it’s in the past now.” Jiggly informed me that he was recently cast in a major studio film in a dramatic role which starts filming later this year.

The creative Lashauwn Beyond designed and made the beautiful ensemble she had on including the shoes. Unfortunately Lashauwn’s time on Drag Race was short, being eliminated in the second episode. Fellow cast member Dwayne Milan, a New York native made a big impression on viewers. Milan enjoyed meeting actress Loretta Devine on the show. Milan has a theater background and always looked up to the stage and film actress.

Chicago, IL native Dida Ritz enjoyed meeting guest judge Natalie Cole. Many thought the 6th place Dida would have gone further in the competition. Ritz enjoys connecting with fans of the show via social media and said she personally replies to all the wonderful messages left by viewers.

Madame LaQueer

Madame LaQueer

Madame LaQueer talked about Phi Phi O’Hara being in the Top 3, “..She has a mouth, talks shit, she’s a bitch, but she’s also fierce and deserves to be in the Top 3” and expressed her joy to see Sharon Needles and Chad Michaels in the finals. The one thing LaQueer didn’t like about the show was being picked last twice to join a team, she said it was tough to see “…it’s okay, I’m a tough bitch.” Madame LaQueer hails from Carolina, Puerto Rico as is all too proud of representing,”La Isla del enacanto”.

  1. Congrats to Sharon Needles…I know it was close between her and Chad Michaels . Phi Phi it is good to have an attitude but use it carefully…

  2. Ed Tucker

I saw every episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was a complete fan for Sharon Needles and Chad Michaels, and was thrilled when Sharon won the title. I had the pleasure of being right up front to see Sharon perform live at Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg. Sharon, your personal vulnerability is what takes you over the top. I’ll make the effort to see your live performances whenever possible. Endless Blessings to you.

With one exception, it was an excellent article, as I will point out at the end of my post. Also, I was happy to read that Phi Phi was allowed to voice an opinion that went beyond the sound bites that made her appear to be a gold=plated bitch on the show as well as a bit more personable when she is not behaving manipulatively in order to claw her way to the top of the heap in a competition and can be more of herself. As for my complaint: “Chad Michaels is a consonant professional” Don’t you mean cunsummate? After all, Chad Michaels is no a, e, i, o, or u!
