On May 18th, 2012 the Flatiron section of New York held the First Annual Anti-Bullying Gala at social club SPiN Galactic New York to benefit Bullying.Org. Nearly 700 people attended the fundraiser.
Canadian father and teacher Bill Belsey created Bullying.org after the Taber shooting. In Spring of 1999, A 14-year-old boy opened fire inside W.R. Meyers High School in Taber, a town in southern Canada. One student, Jason Lang was killed and another was wounded. Shortly after the shooting, stories began to emerge of the relentless bullying the accused had previously endured.
Soon after, in early 2000 Mr. Belsey created the site to help prevent the future pain and suffering of others because of bullying. Through support groups, presentations in schools and mentorship with peers, the site can help those in need. The site is dedicated to the memory of Jason Lang.
