On March 31st, The 26th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns reigned supreme at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square NYC. A kingdom’s worth of drag queens filled the ball room with over-the-top dazzling display of regal glamour.
Organized by the Imperial Court of New York, the charity ball benefited PFLAG-NYC. Over the years the event organation has raised nearly $2 million for HIV/AIDS and LGBT youth-enrichment causes.
Empress XXV Peppperica Swirl honored fashion photographer Mike Ruiz with the Imperial Diamond Award in acknowledgment of his work for the LGBT community. Comedian and insult comic Lisa Lampanelli entertained the packed house while recording artists Ebonee Excell, Adam Barta, Reina and Dance siren Sarah Atereth performed their latest singles.
Notable guest included Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, radio host Elvis Duran, former Real Housewives cast members Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, designers Chris March and Richie Rich, recording artists Ari Gold, Lori Michaels and Marty Thomas, fashion icon Amanda Lepore, gossip host Rob Shuter, author Michael Musto and reality TV stars TJ Kelly, Ryan Nickulas and Miguel Allure among many others.
